Oh hey October... where did you come from?

Hello Alllllll!

I considered apologizing for it being six months since my last post, but I'm not going to. You probably thought I was not going to post again didn't you? Well here I am.

Funny how things change isn't it? So much in such a short amount of time too.
Funny how people you think will always be in your life disappear, or become someone you hardly know or want to know anymore.  And funny how someone comes into your life and in such a short time you can't imagine not having them in your life.

And then there are those people that are away for a while, but when you see them it's as if no time has passed.

Mexico was AWESOME. I want to go back soon. I love my friends.
I bought a compound bow, pink camo. Not a hair bow, but an actual bow that shoots arrows.  Shocked? I know. But it is so much fun to shoot. I'm enjoying it.

OU/TX is this weekend. So super excited.

Time is moving so fast. I've been in Siloam for over two years now.

I miss those girls I graduated with, I love keeping up with their lives on facebook and through their own blogs. They are getting married and having beautiful children, glad I can see it all :)

I am oh so very happy right now.

May is a good month

Well hello there blog readers... I do apologize for my extremely long sabbatical from blogging. I had a feeling I might not be the most diligent blogger when I started this. But it's my blog. So I'll post when I want :)
I'm so very glad it's May :)

This is definitely me right now.

Last weekend the family and I rented a cabin in Branson MO and had a nice relaxing extended weekend. It was so nice getting to hang out with everyone, especially Rilley and Josie.  Rilley and I were roommates, as much as I love that little guy, he is not the best roomie. He is an early riser and certainly not a quiet one and he realllllllllyyyy likes Disney channel. We all did some hiking, shopping, Silver Dollar Citying, and eating. Sadly Arron (my brother) got sick at the beginning of the weekend and spent the majority of the time in bed :(

Josie decked out in OU gear... her mother would be furious if she saw this :)

Rilley excited about the swing ride!

Me and Josie taking pictures.

Thursday is Fiddler on the Roof at the PAC, I will be going with Jillian! I'm super stoked. I love Fiddler on the Roof... Sunrise Sunset.

The end of this month is what I am super excited about. Mexico with three of my best friends/sorority sisters :)
Can. Not. Wait.

Statue of Liberty

So it has been an interesting week of patients... and as things were happening this week I decided I needed to blog about them. Because they were certainly funny at the time.

First patient. This actually happened a couple weeks ago but I came across a pic on pinterest that reminded me of it.
A patient actually asked " Why don't you guys use cocaine anymore?"
He wasn't joking.

My next patient. A little boy who when asked who he thought cleaned the statue of liberty's teeth replied "I bet Abraham Lincoln." I said well then it's been a long time since she's had them cleaned.
He replied "well they are green."
touche. indeed they are.

Today I had a patient who spit water all over me, which was impressive because he managed to get the stream of water straight onto my pants and miss himself entirely. Luckily he was a friend of mine and we had a long laugh about it.

Yesterday was a not so fun patient experience. I broke a scaler on a patient's extremely tough calculus [tartar for those non dental people :)] I was so scared that he swallowed it so after much searching I finally found it in the suction trap. It was scary.
Anyways I named his tooth "Scaler Breaker." which I say in my head like Troy from Swamp People says "Tree Breaker" Which makes it hilarious to me.  "Chute em Liz!"

Ahhh my job, I just get to interact with the most interesting people. It's pretty great.

Life is good.  Some good words of wisdom I found on Pinterest.

And I told you to be patient...

I don't know how I haven't found this song earlier. But anyways  I am currently obsessed with it so I wanted to share it all with you.

Week end.

So I have been pinteresting a lot lately. I found some awesome recipes, I've never been much a cook because in my opinion cooking for one is far too much work. Also I don't love leftovers. So I've been a sandwich, ramen, frozen meal, and takeout kind of girl. But finding so many awesome recipes on pinterest has given me a push to try them.

This week I made chicken gyros.  This recipe worked out great because I made the Tzakiti sauce and marinated the chicken the day before. On Tuesday, I just had to cook the chicken, cut up my tomato and onion and then heat up the pitas. It was delicious! Susie and Chris came over to join us for dinner. So no leftovers :)
Then last night me and the roommate made some mexican chicken casserole, and it was pretty good. It was cheesy and awesome.

I didn't make these cookies this week, I made them a few months back and brought them to work for all my coworkers. I liked them, but was not a huge fan of the cream cheese filling, which was surprising because I love cream cheese. Next time I think I will leave it out and that will make the recipe a little easier.
Thus far pinterest has yet to let me down. And I would like to make an effort to make dinner at least two nights a week. It's difficult when I don't get off till 6pm and then by the time I work out and get home, i'm hungry and I don't want to spend an hour or two prepping and cooking. So I'm all for easy recipes!

Wowzers.

I am working out some new years resolutions. I had a patient explain to me that the first two weeks of the new year are for contemplating your resolutions and being sure that it's something that you can do. Instead of doing them for two weeks and then failing. SO they are made and I have high hopes.

Anyways, a couple weeks ago I had a patient who came in for an initial appointment and while I was doing a head and neck exam noticed a dark area on his neck.
I asked the patient about it and he said it was growing and that he had noticed that. We decided to send him to an oral surgeon for a biopsy of it. The biopsy came back as Malignant Melanoma. The patient went in the following week and had the area removed.  The surgeon told him that they believed they got it all and it hadn't metastasized. He came in this week and told us that he didn't know how to thank us.

That was an awesome outcome and precisely why we do head and neck cancer screenings for our patients.

I'm ready for a vacation, somewhere tropical. With good friends. so good friends need apply. Let's do it.
